kirti-kulhari has been receiving rave reviews for her intense portrayal of Dr. Saira Sabharwal in the recently released medical drama Human. Now such moving roles have become synonymous with Kirti such as pink, Mangal Mission, Uri: The Surgical Blow or the girl on the train, the actress has always chosen roles that have intensity and depth. And while I love these groundbreaking roles as a viewer, for me Kirti’s debut role in Bollywood will always hold a special place in my heart.
Not many know that Kirti, always assertive, serious and intense on screen, actually started her Bollywood career 12 years ago as a silly and naive girl named Parminder in Khichdi: The Movie. While I admire Kirti’s dedication to casting roles that make a difference, I miss the actress’s on-screen innocence, and so does she.
“Khichdi is the only movie that I saw 10 times in theaters when it was released. I did it because it used to be packed and I loved sitting with these people who would laugh madly at every joke, sometimes even the stupidest things. I loved seeing that crazy laugh and taking it all in through those people.”
Since Kirti is so excited about Khichdi Like me, I wonder if he would like to return to the comedy genre. Coincidentally, Kirti has recently become a producer, and her first film below that, I stopped, is actually a black comedy.
But in making an outright commercial comedy, Kirti says:
“Yes, I want. I’ve been saying this for a long time that I’ve been tired of doing serious roles for a while now. I want to do a comedy. I am quite cheerful, bubbly and joyful in life and want to do something more fun. But you know what, it will come very soon as I am working in that direction.”
Kirti is one of those actresses who has raised the bar of her craft with every performance of hers and continues to do so to this day. Now, she is taking a step forward by bringing stories through her own production house and I am excited to see the kind of projects she undertakes.
