After this, starting at 12 o’clock tonight, the tariffs will be reduced by Rs 4 per liter for gasoline and Rs 5 per liter for diesel. Because of this, the state government will suffer the loss of annual revenue of Rs 3.5 billion.

Approval also to give free land for Kota airport

Rajasthan’s Cabinet of Ministers met here Tuesday night to make several decisions, including lowering the Value Added Tax (VAT) on gasoline and diesel and approval to provide free land for an airport in Kota. According to the statement issued after the meeting, the Council of State Ministers chaired by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot approved the reduction of VAT by 4 rupees per liter on gasoline and 5 rupees per liter on diesel. According to this, despite a possible reduction of Rs 1800 crore in state revenue due to the reduction of the excise tax on gasoline and diesel by the central government in the past, the Cabinet has taken this decision maintaining the public interest as paramount.

It should be noted that earlier this year too, the state government had relieved the people of the state by reducing VAT on gasoline and diesel by two percent. Therefore, the state government is already facing a loss of revenue of Rs 2,800 crore and with the decision made today in the cabinet, this loss of revenue will increase to Rs 6,300 crore annually. At the meeting of the Council of Ministers it was said that due to the continuous increase in the prices of gasoline and diesel by the oil companies, the relief that the Central and State Governments provide to the common man is diminishing.

The central government has consistently lowered basic excise duties on gasoline and diesel since 2016 and reduced the portion of the “divisible pool” that will be shared with the states. Because of this, the share of the states has been reduced, while excise and additional taxes have been continually increased. According to the statement, it was also reported at the meeting that more than 22 percent of the state’s total tax collection comes from VAT on gasoline and diesel.

Due to the Corona epidemic, there has been a huge Rs 20 crore reduction in state revenue up to October of the current financial year. According to this, one of the main reasons for this is the unavailability of GST reimbursement of Rs 5,963 crore from the Center to the state. At the same time, the Council of Ministers has approved the amendment in the Land Allocation Policy-2015 for various purposes in urban areas of Rajasthan. With this cabinet decision, within the framework of the Social Security Promotion Plan-2021, land is released to non-profit organizations for activities related to the well-being of women, the disabled, children, the elderly, the homeless. , transgender, drug addicts and people living with HIV. an assignment can be made.

The cabinet has also given its approval to allocate vacant land for the proposed airport in Kota. With this development, Kota as an educational and industrial city will be able to be connected by interstate air. Along with this, the conditional allocation of 75.9379 hectares of state land was approved to Powergrid Ramgarh Transmission Limited, Jaisalmer for the construction of a 400KV power substation in the Nimba and Mandai village of Fatehgarh tehsil.
