Sooryavanshi, star of Akshay Kumar, has held up quite well on his second Friday. After bringing 8.30 million rupees Thursday, saw a minimal drop the next day with 7 million rupees * plus. This was crucial for the film as it was like a normal work day and therefore the drop could have been greater as audiences may well have looked forward to the weekend. However, the fact that footsteps were still generated gives a pretty good idea of the kind of stability the Rohit Shetty-directed film is enjoying.
The movie has now compiled Rs 127.67 million * at the box office and will surpass the 150 crore mark before the close of the second weekend or get quite close to that. The action entertainer should get a double digit score today and once that happens even the basic jump on Sunday will take it through.
However, one only wishes the 50% occupancy rule for theaters in Maharashtra, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh to be removed sooner rather than later as that would help Sooryavanshi tremendously. Not only that, as there are a number of premieres starting next week and the industry can earn a lot at the box office if things get back to normal in theaters. Sooryavanshi has given the kind of start Bollywood was looking for and now is the time for content and intent to speak.
