Tulsi Gowda Padma Shri Award: The Padma Awards were presented on Monday (November 9) at Rashtrapati Bhavan. A total of 73 celebrities were honored on the occasion. It includes other celebrities like MC Mary Kom, PV Sindhu, and Kangana Ranaut. Tulsi Gowda, an environmental conservator from Karnataka, was included among these celebrities. Tulsi, known as the ‘Encyclopedia of the Woods’, is being highly regarded for its simplicity. To receive the Padma award, she came barefoot to Rashtrapati Bhavan in her traditional tribal dress. People congratulate him by sharing his photo with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Interior Minister Amit Shah.

Tulsi, a resident of Honali village in Karnataka, was never able to go to school. Despite this, he gathered so much knowledge about plants and vegetation on his own that it came to be called the ‘Encyclopedia of the Forest’. He married at a very young age. When he was only 3 years old, his father passed away. He used to work in daycare with his mother from a very young age. From there, an attachment to trees and plants developed in his mind. It has planted more than 30 thousand trees and plants in the last 6 decades.

Even before this, Tulsi Gowda has been honored with many awards such as ‘Indira Priyadarshini Vriksha Mitra Award’, ‘Rajyotsava Award’ and ‘Kavita Memorial’ for her efforts towards environmental protection. She takes care of the Forest Department nursery. She collects the seeds of many plants, keeps them until the summer season, and then sows the seeds of the jungle at the right time. He dedicated his entire life to protecting the environment, for which he has been honored with Padma Samman.
