Chhattisgarh’s Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel made a big announcement about gasoline and diesel prices in the state. He said gasoline and diesel prices in the state would remain lower compared to neighboring Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Telangana. For this, the orders that these states are issuing are being studied.

The Chief Minister said that we have only learned through the media that prices have dropped in neighboring states. We are looking at how much VAT has been reduced in these states and which state has issued which order. He said gasoline and diesel prices would be decided here only after seeing orders from neighboring states.

Following the record rise in gasoline and diesel, on November 3 the central government announced a reduction in excise duties on both fuels. As a result, the excise duty on gasoline was reduced by Rs 5 per liter and on diesel by Rs 10 per liter. After this, the states have also reduced the VAT to their level.

Along with this, Chief Minister Baghel raised questions with the central government about alleged corruption in the purchase of Rafale fighter jets. He asked why the government was calm about it and why a Joint Parliamentary Commission (JPC) has not been set up to investigate it. He claimed that the Rafale deal has now become an international issue.

Baghel said: ‘Rahul Gandhi has been raising the issue of the Rafale deal over and over again. He had raised this question prominently even before the last Lok Sabha election. Now it has become an international problem and whether in France or any other country, the governments there have taken action on it. But what is the reason why the Indian government is still silent about this?

The Chief Minister said: ‘Rahul Gandhi has demanded the formation of a JPC to investigate the Rafale agreement. If there are no irregularities in the purchase of these fighter jets, why does the central government hesitate to establish the JPC? He accused the Center of misusing the public’s hard-earned money.
