According to the Confederation of All Traders of India, for a month during the wedding season, where 25 lakh of marriages are estimated in the country, around 1.5 lakh of marriages are proposed in the capital Delhi alone. With this, where there will be a business of Rs 3 lakh crore across the country, there is a business estimate of around Rs 50,000 crore in Delhi alone.
According to Praveen Khandelwal, head of the Indian Merchants Confederation, 25 lakh weddings in roughly 600 districts of the country can cost from one lakh to one crore of rupees. He said its direct impact will also be visible in the market as people will flock to the market to buy at these weddings, which will also benefit textile merchants, watchmakers, jewelers and catering entrepreneurs.
The country’s economy is also expected to gain a strong boost in the auspicious wedding season. Estimates from business organizations are also good news for merchants facing a crisis during the epidemic. According to the same trade body, people had made record purchases even during the Diwali season, so the wave of happiness returned among the merchants.
