Sukesh Chandrasekhar extortion case: The economic crimes wing of the Delhi Police arrested 5 employees of Tihar Jail in connection with extortion of 200 million rupees while in Tihar Jail in Delhi. According to EOW officials, the names of the detained defendants are Sunil Kumar, Sundar Vohra, Mahendra Prasad, Lakshmi Dutt and Prakash Chandra.

All of them are accused of helping the imprisoned Sukesh Chandra Shekhar and receiving money in return. Sunil Kumar and Sundar Vohra are jail superintendents among the arrested defendants. While Mahendra Prasad and Prakash Chandra are deputy superintendents. The economic crimes wing filed them in Delhi’s Patiala House court on Tuesday, where the court sent them to the police until 12 November.

The economic crimes wing of the Delhi police told the court that Sukesh Chandrashekhar was leading an organized gang from inside Tihar jail. In which prison officials were also helping him.

It was also revealed in court that Rs 20 million was given to prison officials as a bribe on behalf of Sukesh Chandrashekhar. The investigation also revealed that these jail officials were involved in the entire Sukesh conspiracy. During pre-trial detention, the Economic Crimes Wing will investigate and try to find out to which officials the Rs 20 million were distributed.
