In the festive and wedding season in Jammu and Kashmir, the effect of circumventing Kovid’s SOP has started to show. In new cases, entire families are infected. On Saturday, five people from a family were found infected with corona in the Sarwal and Sanjay Nagar areas of Jammu city. Both families belong to the Kashmiri Pandit community. An infected patient from Sanjay Nagar has been admitted to DRDO Kovid Hospital in Jammu, while nine other people from both families have been isolated in their homes. On Saturday, 151 new infected were found in the state, of which 135 cases are from the Kashmir division. Although the figure of an infected family in Jammu has not been officially shown.

I didn’t care about the social distance
The concern is that the majority of newly infected cases have received both doses of the COVID vaccine. According to experts at Kovid, not taking care of social distance has helped increase the spread of the infection. The spread of Kovid can increase in the next one to two weeks after the holiday season ends. An infected family member in Sarwal is said to work as an SO in the High Court. It is feared that other family members have suffered from bringing the infection from abroad. Similarly, in Sanjay Nagar, the family that was infected had a wedding ceremony a few days ago, so it is feared that they may have contracted the infection from there.

79 cases were found in Srinagar on Saturday
Of the infected cases found in the state on Saturday, the capital Srinagar has the maximum number of 79 cases. The concern is that all these cases are at the local level, meaning the community level is spreading in Srinagar. Likewise, 14 cases of local infection have been found in Baramulla, 12 in Budgam and 10 in Ganderbal. The only Samba district in the state is running Kovid for free. No new infected cases have been found in the districts of Ramban, Kishtwar, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, Shopian, Kulgam.

More than 1100 people infected in ten days, ten died

In the last ten days in Jammu and Kashmir, more than 1,100 people have been infected with Kovid. In other words, a hundred cases are received daily, but on Saturday this number suddenly increased. In these ten days, ten people have died from Kovid, in which seven deaths have been reported from the Kashmir division. The relief is that the recovery rate in the state remains above 98 percent of all infected cases, but this graph may drop if there is an increase in infected cases. The Srinagar district is the hardest hit in the state. This district has the highest number of 554 active cases and this number is continually increasing. There are 160 active cases in Baramulla, 85 in Budgam, 74 in Ganderbal and 54 in Jammu.

60% have received the second dose of the Kovid vaccine.
In Jammu and Kashmir, the estimated population in the age group over 18 has been claimed to have administered the second dose of Kovid vaccine to 60 percent of people so far. The estimated population in this age group is 93 lakhs, covering around 51 lakhs of people. The vast majority of people have been given one dose of Covishield, and the second dose has been given after a period of 84 days. Dr Salim ur Rehman, Director of the Department of Family Welfare, Jammu and Kashmir, says that according to the stipulated period, a goal has been set to complete the vaccination to 100% in the second dose by January 2022. To do this , the vaccination campaign is being accelerated at all levels.
