Order of a crore dose
An official source told the PTI news agency that the Center has placed an order for one crore of doses of the Zykov-D vaccine from Zydus Cadila, which costs about 358 rupees without tax. This price also includes the cost of the “jet applicator” which costs Rs 93. Only with the help of this will the vaccine dose be administered.
The vaccine is DNA-based and has no needles.
Company officials told the ministry that Zydus Cadila is in a position to provide 10 million doses of Zycov-D per month. Three doses should be administered 28 days apart. This is the first vaccine in the world developed in the country, based on DNA and without needle.
In this way, three doses will be administered
Zycov-D was approved for emergency use by the Drug Regulator (DCGI) on August 20. NITI Aayog (Health) member Dr. VK Paul had said on September 30 that the world’s first DNA-based vaccine would be used in a national campaign very soon. Three doses of Joycov D will be needed. The second dose will be given 28 days after the first dose and the third 56 days later.
