A 50-year-old woman from Fazilka, Punjab, has turned to the Punjab and Haryana High Court for protection to maintain a consensual relationship with a 30-year-old man. By admitting the petition, the High Court has ordered the Fazilka SSP to make a decision on the demand letter related to the safety of the petitioner.

When submitting the petition, the woman said that she is 50 years old and the boy 30 years old. The woman is already married and wants to live with her lover. Later she will marry her lover after divorcing her husband. The Superior Court, after hearing the petitioner’s side, said that the petitioner has come here to protect life and liberty. The right to the protection of life and liberty is a right enshrined in the Constitution. As long as security is ensured, there is no need to consider the validity of the relationship or other factors. Every adult has the right to choose the life partner of his choice and to live with him.
