The intensity of the new Corona variant AY.4.2 is 0.1 percent lower than all other variants. It is so low that it cannot be considered worrisome.

This has been stated in the latest report from the Indian Source-Corv-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG). Insacco’s weekly newsletter states that the effectiveness of AY.4.2 does not appear to be any different compared to other Delta variants.

Insacog says the intensity of variant AY.4.2 is less than 0.1 percent this time compared to all other variants of interest or variant of interest (VOC / VOI). The report said that there is currently no biological basis from which to assess the increased infectivity of this variant in the context of the epidemic. More investigations are underway.

Insacco said Delta (B.1.617.2 and AY.x) remains the new variant of concern (VOC) or variant of interest (VOI) in India. Delta’s first round of operations in India occurred in October last year. Because of this, there was a terrible second wave of Korana in the country and it was at its peak in April-May.
