Following the Central Government’s decision to reduce excise duties on diesel and gasoline just before Diwali, their prices have dropped in many states. At the same time, there is no reduction in the prices of gasoline and diesel in Delhi, although there is definitely pressure on the Kejriwal government in this regard.

To further emphasize this pressure, BJP leaders in Delhi organized a sit-in near the home of Prime Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday. Delhi BJP Chairman Adesh Gupta, who leads the dharna, said that our workers will continue the dharna until the Chief Minister announces the reduction of VAT.

Gupta argued that there is a big difference in the price of gasoline and diesel available in the states governed by the BJP and in Delhi. The Kejriwal government should announce the VAT reduction without delay for the people of Delhi to get relief.

Senior Deputy Minister Manish Sisodia said that the Center has reduced excise duties, some states have reduced VAT, we are also studying. Over the past two to three years, the Center has increased the excise duty. It was increased from 15 to 34 rupees. Now, after making a small cut, they say state governments should cut it. He would appeal to the Center to reduce VAT by at least 15 rupees.

On Wednesday, the central government had announced the reduction of the excise duty. Under which VAT was reduced by Rs 5 on gasoline and Rs 10 per liter on diesel.
