Data released by the National Criminal Records Bureau (NCRB) confirms that the people of the state did not give up the longing to live even during confinement and virus infection. According to the report, a total of 4,001 people committed suicide in Haryana in 2020, that is, an average of 11 people gave their lives every day. Of these, 3,084 were men and 917 women. While in 2019, 4,191 committed suicide. Of these, 3,297 were men and 894 were women. Therefore, in Haryana, this number has dropped by 190, which is 4.5 percent less.
According to the report, 1 lakh 53,52 people died in the country last year and the suicide rate was 11.3. While in the year 2019, 1 lakh 39,123 people committed suicide in the country and the suicide rate was 10.4 percent. The main reasons for committing suicide are domestic problems, marital relationships, illnesses, etc.

Attorney Hemant said that a case is registered against the person attempting suicide under section 309 of the IPC. It will be punished with a custodial sentence of either of the two denominations for a period that may be extended to one year (prison) or with a fine, or both. Under the Mental Health Care Act 2017, central and state governments have a duty to make appropriate arrangements for the care, treatment and rehabilitation of those who have attempted suicide to prevent it from happening again in the future. .
