New Delhi: The government has lowered the basic tariff on crude palm oil, crude soybean oil, and crude sunflower oil from 2.5% to zero to control the steady rise in cooking oil prices since last year. The agricultural rate for these oils has been reduced from 20 percent to 7.5 percent for crude palm oil and to 5 percent for crude soybean oil and crude sunflower oil.

As a result of the above deduction, the total duty is 7.5 percent for crude palm oil and 5 percent for crude soybean and sunflower oil. The base duty on RBD palmolein oil, refined soybean oil and refined sunflower oil has been reduced to 17.5 percent from 32.5 percent. Before the cut, the agricultural tax on all forms of raw edible oils was 20 percent. After the reduction, there will be a tariff of 8.25 percent on crude palm oil, 5.5 percent on crude soybean oil and crude sunflower oil.
