- The West Indies women’s team is on tour in Pakistan
- ODI series from November 8
Clouds of danger hang over the upcoming ODI series between the West Indies and Pakistan women’s teams. Ahead of the three-game series to be held in Karachi, six members of the Pakistan team have proven positive for the Crown. All of these six players are currently isolated.
However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not released the names of the players who tested positive. But a board spokesperson confirmed that the team will have a full 15-man squad by November 6 and their XI will be ready for the first game.
On October 28, the three-player crown report was positive. These three players are expected to rejoin the team on November 6 after being isolated for 10 days. After this, between October 29 and November 2, the reports of three more players came out positive.
The Pakistan team was training for this series at the PCB High Performance Center in Karachi. Meanwhile, after the first three cases came to light, the three players were placed in isolation for ten days. As a precautionary measure, the remaining players and support staff members were also quarantined for six days.
Then three more cricketers from the squad who were in quarantine tested Kovid, but on different days. The isolation period for these three players will end on November 7, 8 and 9.
Significantly, Pakistan had announced an 18-man team for the series against the West Indies, as well as the ODI Women’s World Cup Qualifier to be played in Zimbabwe. To do this, Javeria Khan has been appointed captain of the team. Both the Pakistan and the West Indies teams will depart for Zimbabwe immediately after this series. This qualifying tournament will run from November 21 to December 5.
Under the captaincy of Stephanie Taylor, the West Indies team arrived in Karachi on November 1. After being in mandatory isolation for three days, the West Indies team also took to the field on Thursday to practice.
The eyes of the cricket world are on this tour of the West Indies women’s team. Because in the past, the England and New Zealand teams canceled the Pakistan tour for security reasons. The New Zealand team had even arrived in Pakistan and announced the suspension of the tour a few minutes before the start of the match. The ODI series will be played on November 8, November 11 and November 14 at the National Stadium in Karachi.
