Pre-debut stage names

During his early days, that is, his pre-debut days, RM went by many names. Some of the names include Largo, The Nexist, and Stealo, however his most popular name was Runch Randa. Meaning behind RM

When Namjoon debuted as a member of BTS, he took the stage name Rap Monster. It means the one who raps like a monster. In 2017, he changed it to just RM, which currently stands for Real Me. ARMY would know that RM learned English by watching Friends. He likes to read and books are always seen. He explained that his habit of reading is because he wants to keep increasing his vocabulary.

Dance prodigy

When he was a trainee, RM wasn’t that good at dancing. And that’s why it was labeled Dance Prodigy. Why? RM had revealed, “I was so bad at dancing that my dance teacher and company staff called me that.”

He loves to keep up with the news.

RM once explained that he likes to stay on top of everything and that he doesn’t want to take his busy schedules as an excuse not to be aware of what is happening around the world. “I always review current affairs and general topics in the news. It’s easy to neglect things that happen around the world because of our busy schedule. I don’t like that, so I check the news.”

RM has an IQ of 148. His score on the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) was 900, which is the gold level for scores.

Yes, you read that right. In 2018, on an episode of Run BTS, RM had revealed that he had never popped a bubble with gum before.

Troubled men

RM was part of a Korean variety television show called Problematic Men. It included a cast of a group of men who were considered “men with hot brains.” However, he had to leave the show after BTS achieved success.


RM started writing rap songs and verses at a very young age. He wrote the lyrics for No More Dream at his school as he had no dreams when he left. He has over 170 writing and composition credits to his name. RM has also written lyrics for other bands like GLAM, TXT, and more.
