Yash Raj Films has been at the forefront in providing aid to daily wage earners in the Indian film industry. To sustain this beyond a simple response to COVID-19, Aditya Chopra has launched Saathi Card, modeled on the lines of an internationally acclaimed policy concept – “universal basic support” under the Yash Chopra Foundation, to provide health insurance, subsidy school, provision of rations, annual medical check-ups among other benefits for the daily wage earners of the industry and their families.

Anyone who is a registered member of the Hindi Film Federation in Mumbai, 35 years of age or older and has at least one direct dependent, is eligible to apply for the Saathi Card at Cardholders will be able to use it for medical care including health insurance up to Rs. 2 lakh, free yearly checkups and discounts on medical bills and treatment services. Registrants can also use the card to support their children’s education as YRF provides a subsidy for school fees, office supplies, and uniforms. They can also use the card to buy ration supplies.

The deadly coronavirus pandemic has hit the entertainment industry since last year and daily wage earners have been deeply affected. Recently, India’s largest production company, Yash Raj Films, launched the ‘Yash Chopra Saathi Initiative’ to provide minimal core support to thousands of the industry’s daily wage earners affected by the pandemic and initiated a direct profit transfer of 5,000 rupees for women and the elderly. citizens of the industry, as well as distributed ration kits to a family of 4 for a specified period of time.

Aditya Chopra also implemented a plan to vaccinate thousands of Hindi film fraternity workers, helping to restart filming in Mumbai. During the shutdown last year, Aditya Chopra also supported thousands of daily wage earners in the film industry by crediting money directly to their bank accounts.
