Actress Kangana Ranaut took the stage and garnered all the attention during the press conference for her upcoming film Thalaivii in the capital on Thursday. Kangana hinted that she might even step into politics later, just like the female lead in her latest film.
Kangana was accompanied by the film’s producer Vishnu Vardhan Induri.
The actress looked glamorous in a traditional silk sari. Kangana Ranaut started the press conference by saying that her voice is a little low because she is not keeping up well. “My voice is a little low because of a little cold, it is not Covid but we are here and I appreciate the assistance,” he laughed while answering questions.
Kangana Ranaut, who has spoken on various issues related to the national interest, was asked if this film would help her in any way enter politics as she has now touched the south.
She said: “This movie might not be released in Hindi in multiplexes and multiplexes have always tried to intimidate the producers. And they are the same. I am a nationalist and I speak for the country not because I am a politician but as a responsible citizen. And when it comes to getting into politics, I may need a lot of public support, but right now I’m happy to be an actress. But if people like me tomorrow and support me, I would definitely love it. “
Kangana, who plays the role of the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, feels that the film is more about Jayalaithaa’s journey and was never intended to try to change any mindsets related to mainstream male society.
“In ‘Thalaivii’ it is shown that the person that people thought would never be a politician or could not take over such a volatile state, not only became prime minister, but won elections several times. And her political guru or mentor, MGR, was always supportive. So this movie shows how on certain occasions men also support a woman growing up in life, ”said Kangana Ranaut.
On the question of why this film has not generated a controversy, she replied: “For this I give all the credit to my director, since even the ruling party has no problem with the film.”
Kangana talked about how working on this movie changed her perception of politics and politicians. She shared: “I had a very primitive thinking about politics. As if they were very lucky people who get so much power. But after working on this movie and doing research, my thinking changed. I realized that politics is not easy and there are a number of challenges.
“For example, Jaya maa has temples in Tamil Nadu. They adore her there. The IAS and other officials call her a smart and remarkable woman. And she is famous like that among all. But if she hadn’t faced any major controversy, of course she did, but people chose her over and over again. So this is the reality that I realized after making this movie. “
Talking about the challenges Kangana Ranaut faced while making this film, he said, “Due to weight gain, I had various health problems such as back pain and then learning Bharatanatyam and performing it with a heavy body was not easy at all.”
On why he considers this film to be the best: “Everything that is shown in this film is based on reality. But there is much to learn from the leading political faces who were cult figures in politics. And making a movie like this is like a brain-shaking activity. You have to think hard while playing a character who manages hundreds of bureaucrats. So, I learned a lot while making this film and that is why I consider it my best film ”.
The film stars Kangana Ranaut as Jayalalithaa and Arvind Swami as MG Ramachandran. Filmed simultaneously in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu, it is directed by AL Vijay and written by KV Vijayendra Prasad, Madhan Karky (Tamil) and Rajat Arora (Hindi).
Thalaivii is produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shailesh R. Singh of Vibri Motion Pictures and Karma Media and Entertainment.
