Shreyas Talpade, known for his comedic roles in the Golmaal franchise as ‘Laxman’, recently returned to the small screen with the Marathi show, ‘Mazhi Tuzhi Reshimgaath’.
While discussing his films, the actor stated that it should be important for him and other actors right now to stay connected with their fans rather than discuss how they will connect. After appearing in around 40 films, the actor has returned to the television industry as we will see him in his latest Marathi drama ‘Mazhi Tuzhi Reshimgaath’.
When news outlet ETimes reached out to find out more about Shreyas Talpade’s decision to return to television after so many hit movies and to find out when fans can expect to see Golmaal 5.
Shreyas Talpade responded by saying, “I feel great and happy to be back on television as a subject and the role is enjoyable. The entire dynamics of the entertainment industry has changed in recent years. It is no longer about the big screen or the small screen, now everything is on the phone screen. And the good thing is that you just need to keep acting; If you’re good at it, people will like it, and if you’re not, they’ll keep you out of the way. So now, with the advent of OTT platforms, these channels have also lifted their socks and are testing something that has never been tried before. So that’s what I liked, and the response was overwhelming as well, so we continued to get the job done. “
When asked if going back to television worried him about his return to the Bollywood movie, the The Housefull 2 actor explained: “Most of the population doesn’t think like that now. In Hollywood it’s the norm; it is not strange to them when a movie actor does a program on television. Only here in India do we initially try to intellectualize things. But these days there are no such parameters left, with people having their own YouTube channels becoming just as popular. I firmly believe that the medium should not be an obstacle for an actor. He goes on to point out how there were naysayers when Amitabh Bachan appeared on television during ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati.’
He also said that “the amount of popularity that television gave him once again at that time, it was phenomenal.” And then we saw the biggest actors appear on television and do fiction and non-fiction programs. So when television gives you that kind of reach, popularity, adulation, and love, everything an actor needs, why should we stay away? “
Speaking about her debut film ‘Iqbal’, where members of the film crew advised her not to act in any other television shows, Shreyas shares: “Before ‘Iqbal’ I was doing television, so when the film was on the production publication, I had received offers for a couple of Hindi TV shows, and I remember asking the team if I could take them, but they restricted me, saying that if I do TV shows, why would people come to theaters to Watch Me . Today things have changed; people have moved on for the better. The type of response that I have received for this program now is outstanding and incredible. “
The actor also stated that “The audience keeps an actor alive. So it’s important to stay connected. “
The actor also continued to talk about his other project when he said, “I recently made a short film produced by the Premium Black Music CDs at 8pm. I also made a movie with Mahesh Manjrekar. I’ll be directing a movie soon, there are some other projects and of course this show; this year seems to be full. So, I need to take care of my health to do this amount of work. I am also associated with Delphic Maharashtra, which is to art and culture what the Olympics are to sport. Honestly, I didn’t have an idea about it before, but while working on my own OTT platform, I came across this; I am looking forward to it. With this, we will be able to see talent across the country and the world on that platform. “
Golmaal is one of the largest comic book franchises in India and expects its fifth installment to hit screens. When the actor playing the role of ‘Laxman’ was asked about the fifth film, he said: “Our Captain Rohit Shetty would be the right person to answer this question. In fact, I feel like every time we see each other we tend to talk about ‘Golmaal’ and we all feel like maybe in those moments, people would love a movie like ‘Golmaal’, to free their mind of stress and all that. it is. happening. So yes, the whole team would want to start working on ‘Golmaal 5’, but the final call must be taken by Rohit. So when he decides, depending on the setting and when the theaters open, he’ll take one last call. But yes, as a team, we would love to work for ‘Golmaal 5’ as soon as possible ”.
