Will Ranbir Kapoor-Katrina Kaif’s Jagga Jasoos become a web series? This is what we know

Director Anurag Basu’s 2007 musical adventure film Jagga Jasoos, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif at the helm, remains one of his most creatively satisfying works to date. Although it failed to reach audiences and was called a box office disaster, OTT platforms are showing interest in turning it into a web series. But is Anurag Basu ready to bet again? “I wouldn’t name the platforms, but we had offers to turn it into a series. But if it didn’t work in theaters, how do we know it will work on OTT? Pritam is excited about the idea and wants us to get started on it. However, I am in a strange space [regarding it]. When you do something with so much love and it doesn’t work, you don’t want to try it again. The thought of starting Jagga over is enough to give me the creeps, ”Anurag was quoted as saying by Mid-day, adding that he has been dodging the offer for the past two years. Anurag had jointly produced Jagga Jasoos with Ranbir Kapoor. However, the filmmaker is not sure if Ranbir will give his thumbs up to the idea of turning the film into a web series. Even if it does, the filmmaker says that Ranbir is busy with his next projects. “We keep talking about working together again, but that won’t happen anytime soon. Ranbir is extremely busy right now,” he said. Also Read – Super Dancer 4: Shilpa Shetty Had THIS Strict Precondition Before Returning To The Show

His film Ludo has been selected to be screened at the Melbourne Indian Film Festival (IFFM), keeping in mind the pandemic, from August 15 to August 30, all films will also be screened virtually. It has Abhishek Bachchan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Rajkummar Rao, Sanya Malhotra, Pearle Maaney, Pankaj Tripathi, Fatima Sana Shaikh, among others. The movie premiered on Netflix on November 12 of last year.

Anurag is currently working on his second OTT outing after LUDO. Previously, when asked about exploring the web space, he said, “Well yes, if only the story requires that format. I don’t see any reason to convert a story to a web series just because I want to explore a long story format. Each story creates an impact when told within a certain duration. Sometimes that can be as small as 10 minutes, sometimes we feel like it takes the duration of 5 hours that we cannot count in 2 hours. Once I find a story, worth telling in the format of a web series, I will happily explore. “
