Tollywood lead actor Nani believes that ‘Tuck Jagadish’, which will be released on Amazon Prime Video on September 10, will be his return gift to family audiences who have always showered him with love and support.
One of the most sought-after actors in the industry and the one who describes himself as a natural actor, he is excited for the departure of the Shiva-directed film Nirvana, whose debut film ‘Ninnu Kori’ with Nani was a box office success.
In an interview with IANS, the actor spoke about his expectations of the film, the experience of shooting during the pandemic and the reasons for the launch of OTT.
On the expectations of ‘Tuck Jagadish’
We are very excited. The movie has turned out very well. It will go directly to Amazon because the external situation is not clear. This is the best way to reach the audience. There are high expectations and people are waiting to see the movie. I am completely confident that this movie will deliver what it promised. Shiva has made a very beautiful Telugu family movie. It will be launched in Vinayak Chauthi. For all families to feel at home on the day of the festival and watch a movie made for families, I think it’s a perfect match.
On comparing ‘Tuck Jagadish’ to his previous films
This is very different from what I have done before because it is the first time that I do something that includes a large family. I have only acted in movies where I have a one minute family or a child who has no one and then all kinds of roles, but this is the first time that I play a boy who belongs to a family of 20-30 people. . It is a huge family. Since the beginning of my career, I have had the love and support of the family audience. I really feel that this is my gratitude to them. This is my return gift to them, something that everyone will enjoy.
In the title ‘Tuck Jagadish’
In that town that we show in the film, he is the only one who always dresses up. Jagadish is the very common name. He is called ‘Tuck Jagadish’ because of his identity in that town. We explained in the second half why he always messes.
Shooting during the pandemic
It was quite challenging as for everyone else. Everyone is going through a lot of changes in their filming atmosphere due to the crown, fear, and the situation. It’s definitely not like before. We don’t feel the same as before. Everything has changed for the whole world. It is different but we are getting used to it.
It is an OTT platform
This is my second film about OTT. Last year ‘V’ launched on Amazon on September 5 and exactly one year later we launched ‘Tuck Jagadish’. First of all, I was very happy because there were no theaters and we couldn’t reach a lot of people. Even now, when theaters have not opened in many states, Amazon gives us the opportunity to reach all audiences around the world. In more than 240 countries we are reaching millions and millions of people in the comfort of their homes. In a situation like this, it is a brilliant opportunity. When things return to normal and all theaters reopen, we will have the same relationship of having a theatrical release.
Even with the theatrical release, we won’t have that kind of access. With the theatrical release we will have access to around 10 countries. We have the main markets of USA, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia. These are the only countries that have movie theaters that show Indian films. We access them regularly. Places that do not have cinemas and do not show Indian films will be able to see the film on the first day. By the time ‘Tuck Jagadish’ ends, everyone will have access. All Telugu or all Indians who want to see will have access to wherever in the world they are.
Reason for launching ‘Tuck Jagadish’ on OTT
By the situation. The theaters have not fully opened. The stakes are high. ‘Tuck Jagadish’ is a very good budget movie. In this kind of situation with 50 percent occupancy, curfew for night shows and everything going on around us and in the US, which is a very important market for Telugu audiences, there is a huge number of cases at this time. With everything in mind, we decided to have an OTT launch.
I hope things settle down. Any filmmaker, technician or actor wants to see on the big screen with an audience.
In your next movies
My next movie is ‘Shyam Singha Roy’. We have finished filming and post-production is currently in progress. We are looking for a theatrical release from November to December. Right now I am filming for ‘Ante Sundaraniki’ which will be released early next year. This will also be released in theaters. I really hope things become normal very soon.
I have two films in production that I am producing and they are both shot at 70 percent.
