Bell Bottom, directed by Akshay Kumar, opened last week in theaters across the country (where theaters opened). While the movie is still earning moolah at the box office, the open ending may pave the way for it to thrive in a franchise. And it looks like manufacturers are planning to go ahead with that. Do you want to know what we are talking about? Well, scroll down to see the scoop.
In a recent conversation, film writers Aseem Arrora and Parveez Shaikh talked about already working on a story, the film’s open ending, movies inspired by real-life incidents, and more. Read on to find out what they had to say.
During a recent interaction with Pinkvilla, the Bell Bottom writer spoke about the team planning a Bell Bottom sequel. Aseem said: “We have been discussing ideas to take it forward because Akshay sir likes the film very much and wants to create a franchise.”
Speaking about Bell Bottom’s open ending, Aseem adds: “The ending was always part of the movie. It’s not a gimmick and the character layers are pronounced in every scene in the movie. This was organic. However, we still have a story to decipher and we are trying to do something. Let’s see if things fit. “
While revealing how he came up with the idea to play the Akshay Kumar protagonist, Aseem said he conceptualized it after reading about the incident in a certain book. He said: “We read a lot about defense. There is an appetite for such stories because these are the people who are never the center of attention. As writers, we like to bring up unique stories. “Parveez Shaikh reveals that it was Aseem who introduced him to this incident and said,” I felt like it’s something that hasn’t been talked about before and we should make a movie about it. And so on. that’s how it started. “
Speaking of being subtle with his storytelling, Bell Bottom’s Aseem Arrora said, “We were very particular about not taking the jingoistic Bell Bottom route. We knew there would be some skepticism and people might complain about the slowness in the first half. But just for entertainment, we didn’t want to be lousy. “
Both Aseem and Parveez are fascinated by real life stories. When asked if there is an overdose of movies inspired by true events, Bell Bottom writer Parveez responded: “Today, audiences like things that are rooted in reality. There is a market for it, which is why people are doing it. Maybe one day it will stop. But today, it is the flavor of the season ”. Adding to what Aseem said, “We like to entertain, engage and educate the audience. Movies need life beyond the 2-3 hour viewing experience. We want to teach a lesson without preaching too much. For me, uniqueness is the key. “
On the labor front, Aseem Arrora and Parveez Shaikh have also written another espionage: the Majnu Mission led by Sidharth Malhotra-Rashmika Mandanna.
Directed by Ranjit M Tewari, Bell Bottom star Akshay Kumar in the title role alongside Lara Dutta, Vaani Kapoor, Huma Qureshi and others.
