The trailer for ‘The Matrix: Resurrections’, the fourth chapter in the sci-fi film series ‘The Matrix’, was recently unveiled at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.
The film stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Keanu Reeves in prominent roles along with Carrie-Anne Moss, Jada Pinkett Smith, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jonathan Groff, and Neil Patrick Harris.
Lana Wachowski, the half of the Wachowskis who directed all three films in the franchise with her sister Lilly, has written and directed the fourth ‘The Matrix’.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the fourth chapter of the franchise is titled ‘The Matrix: Resurrections,’ announced the Warner Bros. studio.
The movie trailer was screened at CinemaCon, the largest gathering of theater owners from around the world in Las Vegas, but not online.
Previously, global icon Priyanka Chopra Jonas joined as chair of the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI) film festival, announced on Tuesday.
She was unanimously nominated by the MAMI Board of Trustees comprised of Nita M. Ambani (Co-Chair), Anupama Chopra (Festival Director). The board also welcomed two new members, acclaimed filmmaker Anjali Menon and renowned filmmaker and archivist Shivendra Singh Dungarpur.
On the occasion, Priyanka said: “I am very proud to take on the role of president of the Mumbai Jio MAMI Film Festival. I am looking forward to working alongside these powerful women, Isha Ambani, Anupama Chopra, Smriti Kiran and the rest of the team, to take the festival to the next level.
“I hit the road running… with ideas, thoughts and plans to reinvent the festival to find its rightful place in a world that has changed so much in such a short time. We all consume movies and entertainment very differently now, and in the process, we’ve expanded the footprint of the movies we watch.
“I have always been a huge supporter and believer in films from all over India and together we hope to create a strong platform to showcase Indian cinema to the world.”
Adapting to a new paradigm, Jio MAMI 2.0 will have an extended timeline.
Instead of a film festival that runs for a week, Jio MAMI will now run from October 2021 to March 2022. From October onwards through January, under the Year Round program, in addition to Dial M For Films, selected digital screenings will be made. and master classes with talents from around the world.
The hybrid edition of the festival will take place in March depending on how the Covid-19 situation develops in India. The tentative dates of the festival are March 11-15, 2022.
