It’s no wonder that many people’s beauty and makeup routines or habits have drastically changed over the past year. From work at home to face masks, beauty trends have also followed suit with the changing times. Personally, although I stuck with my pre-pandemic makeup routine for the longest time, this year was where I really appreciated a more minimalist approach. TBH, after the year we’ve had, even putting together easy makeup looks can sound exhausting. So I try to stick to simpler styles on a daily basis so that I feel confident and self-assured. But the fewer products you can use, the better.
Also, this year has really forced me to be more mindful of my beauty product purchases, as I don’t use as much as I used to. And honestly, as a self-proclaimed makeup addict, you really don’t need a lot to get the job done. Below I’ve listed the handful of makeup products that I’ve been looking for the most. Reliable and my constant favorites, they have never led me wrong.
1. bioderma, Photoderm AR SPF50 +
Sunscreen is a must every day! I never leave home without him. I cannot explain how many times I have taught my friends about applying good sunscreen on a daily basis. Finding the right kind of SPF for your face can be annoying, but I really enjoy this formula from Bioderma which has a slight hue. Blends easily with skin without an annoying white cast. The dye unifies the skin with the slightest shine and without greasy feeling. This works perfectly for me because I am one of those people who believe in applying a separate moisturizer for my skin type and then applying sunscreen.

2. Tarte CosmeticsDual-function, beauty shape tape concealer
What else can I say about this cult favorite that hasn’t already been said? It is amazing and durable! However, due to its high coverage, my trick is to wear as little as possible under my eyes. For the rest of my face, I just dot it and blend it with a small flat brush where I need it most in the day. Which is usually more than enough for me to forgo foundation and not have to worry about sweating my makeup.

3. Essence Eyebrow Gel, Make Me Brow
This pick from the drugstore is very cheap but it works wonders. I initially picked it up as it was a recommended hoax for Benefit Give me the eyebrow. The texture is not too runny but consistent. However, it doesn’t make my brows heavy or too strong and it makes the hair stand still all day. The tiny wand deposits a good amount of product for more definition and volume, but in a very natural way in my opinion. I like being able to put this on and be done with my brows in less than a minute.

4. Cosmetics Benefit, Benetint cheek and lip tint
I have always adored this classic Benefit hair color, however this year I rediscovered my love for it. Doubling down as a lip and cheek tint, the aqueous formula easily blends into your skin and makes you look fresh and awake. Perfect if you want to add a little color to your makeup effortlessly. In addition, it remains most of the day during the intense humidity.

5. Too faced, Better than Sex Mascara
This is a mascara that you can never get off my hands. With mascara on and therefore eyes are the center of attention wherever you go, I need my lashes to look good. And this universally loved formula always delivers. It is one of the few masks that does not sacrifice length at the expense of full, thick volume. Plus, the hourglass brush covers each lash and allows me to easily build and enhance as I please.
