Rajveer Ankur Singh
Rajveer Ankur Singh recently presented with Esha Deol Takhtani in the digital film titled Ek Duaa And his performance was phenomenal! Rajveer Ankur Singh began his career with the critically acclaimed film Called G kutta se, where he played the male lead and earned several nominations and reviews for his phenomenal performance in the Hindi film.
We recently had the opportunity to interview him and we asked him about his journey to stardom, his experiences and his future projects, and this is what he had to say:
How has your journey been from your debut film G Kutta Se to Ek Duaa?
From G Kutta Se to Ek Duaa, the journey has been incredible and full of ups and downs that every actor goes through and that’s what makes it special, because when you are successful, happiness is just amazing. I am very happy with the type of work and the type of path that I have chosen so far and started my career from G Kutta Se. They offered me many things in the middle. There were times when I thought I should choose those smaller roles, those roles that didn’t really push me or motivate me as an actor, so I decided to stay behind and believe in myself.
Your selection of films has been interesting with some very strong themes, what is the reason for this?
G Kutta It was something that occurred to me and when I read the script I couldn’t resist because it was such a strong and relevant topic at that time in 2000. I hope that the work that I want to do or will touch someone in some way and when they see the movie and they go out or they’re watching at home, it actually leaves them some kind of message, some kind of feeling that it’s okay, this is what it was all about.
Your journey as a model has been good with the acting projects that are coming up. Are you going to take a back seat in modeling?
My modeling journey started when I moved to Mumbai. I love modeling and I love being in front of the camera. And that’s why I love filming and if I’m free and I’m not filming for a movie or a show, I like to do that. I’d rather be working. So yeah, the backseat will pass once it’s flooded with work. But I will always find out and take some time to model a bit.
Tell us about your experience shooting for Ek Duaa and your equation with Esha Deol.
The experience was truly amazing because it was Esha’s first film as a producer, and almost after 10 years she was returning to acting. Sometimes Hema Ji would come and always say words of encouragement. One day when he came for a photoshoot or something we were doing, he was kind enough to tell me that ‘Young man, good luck, I think you have a bright future’, and those words have stuck with me. Esha never made me feel out of the team or someone who is out or someone who does not belong there. So it was wonderful. I think she is a wonderful wonderful person, a great human being and a great mother.
You have a 6-year-old daughter, how do you balance your professional and personal life?
Oh! You asked me something I’m so excited about. My daughter is like my lifeguard, and it has been very difficult for me because my daughter lives here in the US, San Francisco and that’s where her school started. So for me it is very difficult to manage these two countries and due to work commitments I have to be in Bombay during that time. I’ve been through a lot in life and that’s what has made me even stronger today. So absolutely embrace the moment right now of being with her. The daughters are out of this world. Amazing.
Who are your idols in the industry?
I have been a huge fan of Dilip Sahab. I couldn’t help but think how could a man be so perfect. It was like the first time you get an actor and star combination. He was a phenomenal actor and a megastar rolled into one. Apart from Dilip Sahab, Irrfan Khan was one of my favorites. Irrfan bhai was amazing as an actor, as a human being. I can’t believe that both the actors and the human beings that I admired the most, left us in the last few years.
Where do we see you now?
You see, after Gutta said, I took a break and was in no rush to do whatever came my way. The most important thing for me is to enjoy the work that I am doing and that is only possible when I have the right kind of work. So I’m just going to wait for the right kind of work on the right kind of project. For all the independent filmmakers who want to make great movies, just remember that Rajveer Ankur Singh is there and I want to do some quality work and good scripts and roles out of the box.
When asked about his future projects, he said:
There are Netflix series that could start in January. I can’t reveal anything at the moment. We continue talking with the team. And there’s this z5 digital film that I can’t reveal much about, but it’ll be out from December. As soon as I can get the go-ahead, I’ll be the first to tell you guys. The things that lie ahead and 2021 and 22 are going to be amazing, I promise you.
