Popular TV actress Shweta Gulati has opened up about how new types of content on digital platforms today offer actors a good scope of work, including playing realistic and easily identifiable characters.

Speaking of the same thing, Shweta told IANS: “Anthology movies feature such lifelike characters. On television, each character is either too good to be true or too bad. I don’t find it real. In our daily life, nobody talks or dresses like this. I think we exaggerate with everything, be it emotions or presentation. “

“The web has opened the space for more real and easily identifiable characters, stories and social problems. That in itself is quite exciting for actors like me, who have been around for so long and yet haven’t had the opportunity to play more realistic characters, ”added Shweta Gulati.

However, the actress does not blame the creators of television shows, as she feels that they have to create content according to the demand of the audience.

“Perhaps a group of audiences whose life is so mundane, they want to see something that is probably not real. But then there are audiences that cannot relate to that. That’s the audience we serve through our web shows and anthology shows where it’s more relatable and you’re dealing with real people, ”explained the actress.

In the workplace, Shweta appears in the digital series anthology ‘Crimes and Confessions’. Shweta plays the character of a makeup artist in a story titled ‘Shame Shame’.

“My character’s name is Rekha. She is the personal makeup artist of an actress of yesteryear. It is a story of women set in an earlier period. I have not played this kind of role in the 18 years of my career, ”Shweta wrote.

Asked what kind of preparation was required to play the role, the actress replied, “I had to do a bit of homework because this character is something I hadn’t played before. (In real life) I do my own makeup and, in the movie, I have also done my own makeup. But playing the character of a makeup artist, her personal confusion, her journey in history, it was a challenge for me. “

The actress also revealed how her screen character Rekha has impacted her as a person.

“Once you see the story, you will know that we are not very open and we do not accept the personal choice of each person. When it comes to relationships, careers, etc., we are very critical people. I think this story and this particular character have broadened my focus towards people’s personal choices in all their forms. It has made me more tolerant and less critical, “he said.

Asked about the similarities and differences that Shweta shares with her character, the actress reported, “Rekha is very forgiving. I could forgive a person to the face and momentarily let go, but if someone has hurt or disappointed me, they stay with me. That’s something Rekha is equipped with. She is a very forgiving and generous person. I give but I don’t forgive. That is the biggest difference and similarity that I share with the character. “

‘Crimes and Confessions’ airs on ALTBalaji.
